COVID-19 Procedures
I do this because I care about the safety of children and their families. The current pandemic is a serious concern, and I am working to ensure that I can provide services without undue risk to clients (or myself). I am currently using the following tools and procedures, and will update as evidence gives us better guidance on how to stay safe:
- Our household is able to maintain a high degree of isolation. No one in our household works outside the home (except for myself, on occasional client visits) or is otherwise routinely in contact with the general public. When we must go out for groceries or similar necessities, all precautions are taken to minimize the risk of exposure.
- Telephone or video chat consultations prior to home visits can help ensure that time spent face-to-face is minimized.
- I go for virus testing approximately once per month, and will schedule additional testing prior to visits with clients as needed.
- Before departing for a home visit, I ensure that all materials are disinfected with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide.
- Before dressing for a visit, I wash my hands and put on an N-95 mask. Then I put on the clothes I will wear out the door, wash hands again, and dry with a fresh towel. I also re-sanitize and don single-use gloves before exiting my vehicle.
- Home visits are normally done at the client's vehicle, which is usually an outdoor location; if this is not feasible, we can discuss this in advance.
- While some aspects of the training will require us to be within six feet of each other, we will maintain as much distance as is feasible and ensure that closer proximity is kept to a minimum.
- All clients over the age of 2 should be wearing a cloth or disposable mask that covers their nose and mouth during the entire visit. You may add a face shield if you wish, but masks are required.
About Me
I first found out how complicated car seats could be in 2004, when my oldest child was born. After years of figuring it out for myself, I became a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician in 2014, to take my car-seat geekdom to a new level and help parents like me navigate the dizzying array of options and recommendations. Car seats are hard to get right! Every installation is different, but now I'm putting my certification to work helping other families learn what it all means. You can learn more about the CPST program at

Car Seat Education Sessions: These are in-home sessions to assess fit, harnessing, installation, and use of your car seat. I check for recalls, demonstrate installation, and turn it over to you to apply your new skills. I'll also answer any questions you have about safe travel with your carseat and your child. The goal is not just to make sure your seat is installed correctly, but also that you come away confident you can install it yourself.

- Additional Child$15 each
- Additional Seat$20 each
- Additional Vehicle$15 each
Pricing examples: a family with two children in different models of carseats and one vehicle would be $75 + $15 + $20 = $110. A family with twins using the same exact model carseat in two diferent vehicles would be $75 + $15 + $15 = $105.
Sliding Scale available for qualifying clients.
Expectant Parent Package: This is a three-visit package for new parents to help you through the whole process of securing your baby. The first visit, which can be at home or at a store location of your choice, is a consultation on your preferences and priorities to help you select the seat(s) that best meet your needs. The second visit happens after you have your carseat, but before baby arrives, to ensure it is installed correctly in your vehicle. The third visit happens after baby arrives, and can be at the hospital/birthing center or after you get home, to do a final check of fit and harnessing.
Package price: $100
Group Classes: Does your workplace, parent group, or school want to host a class on car seat use? Let's talk! We can develop a curriculum that meets your group's needs and budget.
